Every Atlas user has access to a central /work file system named /work/$USER located on a file server named like work85a.

These file servers

  • have 24 hard drives each (NVMe to speed up synchronized workloads)
  • have 84 TByte of usable space
  • have a 20 Gbit/s NFS connection to the cluster
  • should only contain a handful users of a specific working group

Please note that /home/$USER is only available on Atlas’ head nodes while /work/$USER is available on all head and compute nodes and serves as the initial home directory on the latter.

To ease access to intermediate results, we have changed our main web server to also serve web pages from this area as described here.
